Advisory services

The AStA offers a wide variety of advisory services

within the office hours you can come by our offices to evaluate which kind of advisory service fits best to your problem. We can tell you what services there are and place you with experts for your needed field of expertise. There are a lot of advisors directly in the AStA who can provide help in a lot of fields. We have advisors in the fields of employment law, tenancy law, foreigners law, social counseling, debt counseling, and so on.

BAFöG- and social counseling

If you have any questions about BAföG or how to finance your studies then you can contact our social referee. He*She will also help you with any sort of social problem. We speak English.

Consultation-hours: The consultation times can be seen by clicking here. The consultation times will take place at the AStA-Office city center (S1|03/62).

Don't hesitate to visit the social counseling. The earlier you contact us the easier it might be to help you. To help you we do need to know all the facts. Please bring all the necessary papers regarding your problem with you. Of course everything remains confidential.

Broadcasting fee (Rundfunkbeitrag/GEZ, ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio): Since there are always questions: unfortunately, international students also have to pay the broadcasting fee as long as they have no legal reasons for exemption. More information regarding of the broadcasting fee, also in English, can be found on the page of the "Studentenwerk Dresden".


Counseling for international students

The AStA has a special counseling for international students. It is held by the referees for international students. Theses referees represent the international students and handle topics and problems regarding international students. You can always contact them or ask questions via .

Counseling for students on LGBTI*Q and topics concerning women

The queer division of AStA comprises representatives of and for queer students . They provide counselling on request. When there is a necessity, they can provide you with contacts of professional experts in this field. Ofcourse, all of this private and anonymously

Consultation for tenancy law at the Studierendenwerk

For tenancy law, Mr. Binder advises as a lawyer from the Studierendenwerk, he advises by telephone. A message can be left on his mailbox on Tuesdays between 2:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Please leave your phone number, your name and your matriculation number, he will call you back. DGB Campus-Office in cooperation with students@work

DGB-Campus Office Team provides you support in  such a way that you can combine your study programs and your work in a better way. Questions concerning rights and duties at a part-time job. Questions about working contracts for different working scenarios will be answered here.

Consultations will take place regularly  for all students in Darmstadt, at the AStA offices. They are independent and confidential. A personal unbinding first consultation will take place.

General legal advice

Every student at the TU Darmstadt can consult our free legal advice provided by our lawyers. A previous registration at our city center office is necessary. Please bring your student-id with you. We also need a basic topic in which field you need advice (for example tenancy or foreigners law). This is needed to assign you to the correct lawyer.

To fix a counselling appointment, please come to the AStA Bureau preferably. If you can not appear personally please give us a call or wirte an email to: service(at) including your full name, mobile number and a description of your problem.
